What We Believe

What We Believe

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). The whole Bible, including both Old and New Testaments, is inerrant and infallible in its original documents. The Bible is the divine standard, and is sufficient for all matters of doctrine, faith, practice, and godliness (Psalm 19:7-11; 2 Peter 1:3).

We believe there is one God (Isaiah 44:5-8). He is perfect and infinite in all His attributes. He is Lord of the universe, having created it by the power of the word of His mouth alone, apart from any natural processes, and He is Lord over mankind, having created us in His image (Genesis 1:27). Within the nature of the one true God are three distinct Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The three persons are co-equal and co-eternal (Acts 5:3-4; Hebrews 1:8).

We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man (John 1:1). He was born of a virgin, and He lived a sinless life. We believe that He was crucified on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, and that He was raised bodily from the dead on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

We believe that salvation is by God’s grace alone, apart from any works of man (Ephesians 2:8-9). God’s only provision for salvation is the atoning death of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). Saving faith is not only an intellectual assent to the facts of the gospel, but a heart commitment to willingly trust, submit to, and obey the Lord Jesus Christ (John 3:36). We believe once a person is saved, that salvation can never be lost or rejected (Romans 8:38-39).

We believe the church (universal) consists of all persons who have trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation (Romans 12:5; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14), and each local body consists of believers who gather together for worship, fellowship, teaching, and exercising spiritual gifts (Acts 2:4,47; Hebrews 10:23-25).

We believe the Biblical ordinances (commands) for the believer are water baptism by immersion and communion. Baptism is an act of obedience whereby a believer makes a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 6:3-6). Communion is an act of obedience where we remember the sacrifice of Christ and anticipate the glories of His kingdom to come (1 Corinthians 11:24-25).

We believe in the personal, premillennial and imminent return of Jesus Christ. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, of the believer to everlasting glory, and the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting punishment (Matthew 25:31-46).
